Lost Your Get Up & Go? Here's How to Find It Again.

Do you ever have one of those days?  You know the kind I'm talking about...no motivation, lazy and tired feeling, headache for no good reason?!  Well over the past several months I've realized that there are several things that help me feel better in no time.  They are important too!  So step by step...here's how to feel better:

Sleep Short in Bamboo - Made To Measure

1) GET OUT OF YOUR PJs!
Okay, I know that we all like to be in our jammies...however, scientific & psychological research has shown that staying in your pajamas actually increases drowsiness and the general "fatigue" of a lazy day.  So Mom's and house wives...it's time...DO IT!  Get out of those PJs now and start on your way to a better day.

2) TAKE A SHOWER & GET REAL CLOTHES ON
Now I know that some of you don't take a shower every day (you know who you are).  But let's face it...taking a shower has a lot of benefits that are good for you.  Taking a shower in many cases can help to wake you up in the mornings, especially when finished off with a cold dose of water (proven to close pores and add shine to hair).  The reality is that if you put on house clothes (which in many cases resemble pajamas), you are bound to maintain an unmotivated style for the rest of the day.  So get out of those sweatpants and t-shirts.  Put on some jeans and a polo shirt, or jeans and a sweater...something other than typical house clothes.  And while you're at it, let's NOT forget the most important, shoes.  You must put shoes on!  Unlike the fly lady (flylady.net), I don't really care if they're laced up or slip ons...just get out of your socks or slippers and put some real shoes on your tootsies...okay?!

3) PUT A LITTLE EFFORT INTO IT!
Pretend you're going out on a date.  What makes that so fun?  It doesn't matter if your single and on your first date, getting ready for a fancy ball, or going out with your husband for an evening on the town.  In any case, you put a little effort into your appearance.  You should do the same every day...it will help you to get and to stay motivated - trust me on this one.  I know what you're thinking: I just have laundry to do, pick up the kids, fill the prescriptions, and get groceries...no one cares what I look like.  The truth is that deep down YOU CARE what you look like!

5 for 5 Dollars - Natural Mineral Makeup

One day I was watching "What Not to Wear" and they made a statement I'll never forget.  You have NO EXCUSE not to dust on a little blush, chap stick, and one coat of mascara.  I didn't believe that until I took their advice and I did it every day.  WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES.  And, it's true it only takes 1 minute.  So go the extra mile, do your hair (make it cute if you want, or a ponytail even - something is better than nothing).  Dust on some loose powder, dust your cheekbones with some blush, add mascara, and finish with one coat of chap stick or lip gloss (I use exclusively Clinique & BareEscentuals).

WAH-LAH!  Feel better yet?!  Try this every day for a WHOLE WEEK and see if you don't feel better about yourself, have more motivation, and maybe get some extra compliments from your husband.

"You must put shoes on..." I agree 100%. I can't get any work done in my office without them on.

Great tips to get this Monday started. I actually had a wet nose(from the one above)wake me up.

I love this blog! Showers do make the day, but I didn't know about the cold dose. I'll try that! And like the Smiling dog, everyone should put a smile on their face too. Your tips are priceless.
Thank you Katie.
