Avoid the Stress of Change in 12 Easy Steps

Change can easily stress people out.  In my devotional this week, they offered 12 steps to correct the stress that comes along with "change."  Change is a constant thing in life, you are changing, the world is changing, and your family will change.  Life is a constant state of flux, which can leave us stressed out to the max.

"Consider it joy, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance." James 1:2-3

Here's the secret that we often forget.  God loves us too much to leave us the way we are!  We all want to live stress-free (or for some of us, just stress LESS), but the truth is that with every change comes stress.  Here are 12 tips that might help you reduce your stress levels.

  1. Take time each day to pray and read God's Word.
  2. Eat right & take care of your body.
  3. Exercise 3-5 times a week.
  4. Develop better time management skills.
  5. Make room for fun, laughter, and relaxation.
  6. Get 6-8 hours of sleep.
  7. Maintain your sense of humor (Pr. 17:22).
  8. Start counting your blessings (Ps. 103:2).
  9. When you talk to yourself, say the right things, your words effect you more than they effect others.
  10. Simplify: eliminate clutter.
  11. Develop a sense of purpose by seeking God & setter personal goals (Jer. 29:11).
  12. Forgive, grudges are heavy to carry (Mt. 6:15).
