Good morning all! This is posting much later than my usual posts...but better late than never I suppose! I'm wondering, how important are flowers to you? Let me clarify this question a little. I love flowers. I love all the colors, the way they smell, I love the way the petals feel on my skin. My husband rarely brings me flowers, and that's okay. But there have been several times when he has brought me flowers and spoiled me rotten. Yesterday was one of those days. He spoiled me with 16 beautiful red roses all arranged in a basket with lots of greenery and ribbons. While flowers & gift giving are not an important part of our relationship, it was certainly a treat to receive them yesterday...most especially while I'm still here in the hospital.
So how important are flowers to you? Some of my nurses and friends say that I'm spoiled, when in our 18 months of marriage this is only the 2nd time I've received such a lovely gift. Now before anyone else thinks I'm spoiled...let me tell you a little secret. They weren't just from my beloved husband. They were also from my church family (where Luke & I are Pastors). For many of you, this won't make a difference. For some of you, you might say that this "doesn't count." Some of my friends have never received flowers from their spouses. I try and remind them that flowers don't "mean" anything. The husband who argues with his wife all the time & tries to "buy back" her love with flowers, the flowers don't mean as much as if he had given them for no reason.
How do you feel when your spouse, friend, or children send you flowers? Does it make you bubbly inside? Do you smile? Do they make your day? For me, this lovely bunch of flowers made me smile & reminded me that I am loved...not just by my hubby, but by my church too.
