The Great Physician

What does it mean to have faith?  What does it mean to believe in things that you can not see?  What does it mean to put trust in someone or something else?

Faith is the measure of a person. Faith is what you are, who you are, and who you choose to be.  Some of my readers may find this a bit confusing.  Let's think about some of the everyday things you put "faith" into.  I put faith into my car, that every morning, when I jump in it and turn the key, that automatically it will start.  I have faith in my husband, that when I need him, he will always be there. There is nothing in this world that you can have faith in that will never let you down.  There are days (as I'm sure some of you know) that the car will not start and it will fail me.  There are days when my husband isn't there and I need him (like when the dishwasher breaks).  The only thing that you can have faith in that will never fail you, is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He left us a promise in Matthew 28:20...many remember these verses as purely the Great Commission, but let us read to the end of the verses, for Jesus reminds of of something truly powerful, "I will be with you always, to the end of every age."
So what does faith have to do with believing in things that you can not see?  How do I know that Jesus lives?  How do I know that God loves me?  And how do I know that the Holy Spirit will guide me in times of uncertainty?  Because I feel it in my heart, mind, body, and soul.  So when we are able to "let go and let God."  We are reassured in the knowledge that He loves us and has a plan for our lives (Jer. 29:11).
This year has been a difficult one, with surgeries and hospitalizations.  But above all else, I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that I am a child of the Most High God, that my God loves me deeply, and that Jesus, the Great Physician has a plan for my life.
